PCC WILLS before 1858
These Wills are kept at the National Archives at Kew from the Prerogative Court of Canterbury (PCC). There are 16 Wills associated with St Minver inhabitants, the earliest is dated 1659. They are the last will and testament of the richer inhabitants, with a £5.00 property barrier before the wills had to be dealt with by the Court. The Wills of women are mainly those of widowed or single women as the property of a married woman was considered to be her husband's until the Married Women's Property Act of 1882.

Glossary
NUNCUPATIVE WILL - An oral will declared by the testator in his or her final illness, made before witnesses and afterward reduced to writing.
RENUNCIATION - The next of kin could renounce all claims to the estate, knowing that there are debts which exceed the valuation of the estate for which they would become responsible.
